About Lunch Notes

This blog was started because of a recommendation a friend made. On my son's first day of Kindergarten, she said "why don't you send him a note in his lunch?" and I thought it was a fabulous idea, except that my son couldn't read yet. So, I popped in a picture I had recently drawn for him of a favorite Ben 10 character and wrote "I love you" on it. He couldn't read the words, but the picture was an absolute hit and Lopsided Lunch Notes was born. I call it lopsided, because a lot of my drawings are just that.

This blog is for him, so it is written to him. The words I write here are the "note" portion - little snapshots of this time in our lives. I write about the day, things going on in our world, and the pictures themselves. I also write with my real inside voice.

Drawing is a favorite past time of mine, but I gave up on it almost as soon as I grew up, so this has been a wonderful way to brighten my son's day, while giving me a fun way to wind down the end of my day. Most of the pictures to date are pictures I've copied (freehand) from other pictures. I am hoping that this exercise will give me enough practice so that I can come up with more creative characters with time.
